Often during the spring or summer months people turn their thoughts to problem areas of their garden or even to consideration of the design as a whole.

Unless it is likely that a complete redesign is required, it is advisable for owners to observe and become familiar with any new garden for a full year, making a note of both good and bad characteristics.

Except in exceptional circumstances, it is unlikely that a revised scheme would be implemented before the autumn or, on some soil types, the following spring.

Preparation For Site Consultation:

Jane can carry out the following at an hourly rate (please see ‘Charges’); however you may enjoy preparing these details yourself or even find it better value to do so.

• Obtain a site plan (Blackwells/draw your own/local surveyor). If possible this should be at a scale of 1:100.
• On a traced copy, and measuring from two known points, accurately add the main features (buildings, drives, paths, trees etc) that you wish to retain. Make an appointment with Jane for a site visit.

It should be noted that Jane does not offer recommendations from descriptions or photographs, although these are invariably useful as an aide-memoire in the design process.
